DESCRIPTION: The MFDs DHCP backoff algorithm refers to its algorithm used to space out repeated DHCP transmissions.  The amount of time between the first attempt to reach a server and the second attempt to reach a server is approximately 2 seconds (i.e. the DHCP initial interval).  Each time a message is sent, the interval between messages is incremented by twice the current interval multiplied by a random fraction between zero and one.  The cut-off value for the time interval to grow is 15 seconds (i.e. the DHCP backoff-cutoff).  If the time interval is greater than the cut-off amount (15 seconds), it is set to that amount (with randomization).
