SUMMARY:

DESCRIPTION: {DY 2.1} At boot time for an unaddressed MFD in BOOTP mode, the system shall attempt to contact a BOOTP server for no more than approximately 40 seconds in an attempt to obtain an initial IP configuration.  During those 40 seconds the MFD shall periodically attempt to contact a BOOTP server.  The amount of time between the MFDs first attempt to reach a server and the second attempt to reach a server shall be approximately 2 seconds and subsequent requests within the 40 second interval shall approximately double the previous request.  If during the 40 seconds initial configuration time the attempt to contact a server fails, the system shall restart the BOOTP process approximately 3 minutes later and continue attempting to contact a BOOTP server in the same manner until a response is received.    Note: A randomization factor is applied to all the time intervals, hence they are documented as being approximate.
